- sequence - a series of events that occur in a natural order
- rotate - the act of turning around and around
- revolve - the act of turning in a circle around a central point or object
- axis - the imaginary line that extends from the North to the South Pole on which the Earth rotates
- orbit - the invisible path followed by an object circling around central point or object
- tilt - a lean; to lean
- hemisphere - half of the Earth
- gravity - a force which pulls two objects towards each other
- equator - the imaginary line that divides the Earth into the Northern and Southern hemispheres
- poles - the northern and southern ends of the Earth's axis
- moon - a natural body that revolves around a planet
- moon phases - the changing shape of the bright part of the moon
- crescent - less than half full
- gibbous - more than half full
- waxing - growing in size
- waning - shrinking in size
- tides - the rise and fall of the sea level under the gravitational pull of the moon
